Marguerite E. J. Hendes, 74 of Clinton, passed away on Saturday, November 28, 2009, at Eagle Point Rehabilitation Center.

Visitation will be from 1 - 4p.m. on Tuesday, at Lemke Furneral Homes, South Chapel, 2610 Manufacturing Drive, with Graveside Services following visitation.

Burial is in the Clinton Lawn Cemetery. Memorials can be made to the American Cancer Society.

Marguerite was born on January 26, 1935, in Clinton, Iowa, the daughter of Christ and Marguerite (O'Connor) Thompson. Marguerite graduated from Clinton High School in 1952. She went on to study music in Clinton.

Marguerite married James Hendes on September 8, 1957, in Clinton, Iowa. She worked part time for the telephone company. She was a homemaker and enjoyed being a mom and raising their daughter, Karen. She was a friend to many, and will be sadly missed by all that knew her. Marguerite was a Rainbow girl and then was an Eastern Star. She was a member of the Moose and the First Presbyterian Church.

Survivors include her husband, James; daughter, Karen Wilkins of Clinton and one grandson, Thomas Weideman of Clinton; and serveral cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents.
