WINGS CANTEEN
PLANS BUILDING
AT R. R. DEPOT

Plans for the construction of a wooden shelter to house the Sustaining Wings canteen at the Chicago and North Western depot in Clinton were announced by Mrs. Peter Andresen at a dinner meeting of the Lyons club in Grace church parish hall last night.

Mrs. Andresen told the club, which is sponsoring a Halloween benefit Friday and Saturday for the canteen, that the necessary material has already been donated by the Curtis club and that all that is delaying the project is formal consent from the railroad.

Serve A. M. Trains

The new building will make it possible for the canteen to serve servicemen passing through Clinton on the morning trains, Mrs. Andresen said. She spoke of the ever increasing scope of the canteen's work and told of how one group of women waited until 3 a.m. for a complement of 540 men.

"When we fed them they told us they would be coming back in a few days," she said, "and we promised that we would be there to meet them. They came back, dirty and tired and happy to be at Clinton."

Also present with Mrs. Andresen as a guest of the club was Mrs. Roy C. Beil, treasurer and chairman of the canteen.
